WEBSITE PLANNING
Check Website Asset Rights Before Publication
Track permission for photos, logos, fonts and written material as part of the content handover.
Create an asset register
For each asset, record its source, intended use and the permission or license supporting that use. Distinguish business-owned photographs from stock images, supplier material and customer submissions. A file found online is not automatically available for commercial reuse.
Resolve uncertainty early
Ask the owner to confirm rights before the asset becomes central to the design. If usage is unclear, choose an authorized alternative or obtain appropriate permission. Do not remove watermarks or copy a competitor’s photographs. For legal interpretation of a license or disputed ownership, seek qualified advice rather than relying on this planning checklist.
Keep the evidence with the project
Save license references and approvals in the private project record. Note any attribution requirement or restriction relevant to future edits. Confirm whether the business can continue using the asset after changing providers. A well-organized handover prevents a later editor from assuming that every file in the media folder has unrestricted rights.
Apply this to your business
Write down the current situation, the decision you need to make and the person who can confirm the facts. North Front Digital can discuss a scoped review through our relevant service overview. When you request a quote, include your website address if you have one and the customer task you want to improve. Deliverables, access, timing and price are confirmed in writing before work begins.
