WEBSITE PLANNING
Decide Whether Overlapping Service Pages Should Be Merged
Compare customer intent and useful content before keeping, combining or retiring similar pages.
Describe each page’s job
For each URL, write the customer question it answers and the service it represents. If two pages have different names but the same answer, identify what distinct value each contributes. Do not assume every keyword variation needs a separate page. Conversely, do not merge genuinely different services simply because their wording overlaps.
Review evidence and dependencies
Check available search performance, inquiries, internal links and references from profiles or printed material. Record missing evidence as missing. A low-traffic page may still be important to existing customers. Identify any useful facts or examples that should survive a consolidation.
Plan the change before publishing
Choose the best destination and preserve the information needed by visitors arriving through the old URL. Have the developer plan appropriate redirects, internal-link updates and sitemap changes where relevant. Monitor the result after publication with reporting lag in mind. A merge is a content and navigation decision, not a guaranteed ranking improvement.
Apply this to your business
Write down the current situation, the decision you need to make and the person who can confirm the facts. North Front Digital can discuss a scoped review through our relevant service overview. When you request a quote, include your website address if you have one and the customer task you want to improve. Deliverables, access, timing and price are confirmed in writing before work begins.
