WEBSITE PLANNING
Prioritize Broken Links by Customer Impact
Turn a link-check report into a practical repair list rather than treating every finding as equally urgent.
Identify what the link was meant to do
For each failing link, record the page where it appears, the destination and the customer task. A broken quote link or service route usually has a more immediate consequence than an old external reference. Verify the observed failure before changing the destination.
Choose a relevant replacement
Update the link to the intended current page where one exists. If the content no longer exists, explain or remove the reference as appropriate. Do not send every missing destination to the homepage just to eliminate error counts; that can leave visitors without the information they expected.
Check the surrounding path
After repair, verify the link text still describes the destination and that any related navigation or sitemap references are consistent. Record external failures you cannot control and choose a reliable alternative where useful. A link audit is complete when important customer paths work, not merely when a tool produces fewer warnings.
Apply this to your business
Write down the current situation, the decision you need to make and the person who can confirm the facts. North Front Digital can discuss a scoped review through our relevant service overview. When you request a quote, include your website address if you have one and the customer task you want to improve. Deliverables, access, timing and price are confirmed in writing before work begins.
