WEBSITE PLANNING
Review Text Contrast in Real Components
Inventory real text and background combinations, record measured contrast and verify shared style repairs.
Inventory the actual combinations
Collect the text and background colors used by body copy, links, buttons, error messages and muted helper text. Include text placed over photographs because its background changes across the image. Record component name, page and state. A palette that looks readable in a design file can behave differently when opacity, gradients or hover styles are applied in the website.
Measure and record the context
Use a contrast checker with the colors actually rendered by the browser. Keep the computed ratio and text size with the screenshot, then compare the relevant accessibility requirement. If a photograph sits behind text, review the least legible area rather than selecting the most favorable pixel. This worksheet is a practical design review; it is not a statement that a site complies with a legal standard.
Repair the shared style
A hypothetical pale gray helper label may become readable with a darker shared text token, while a hero image may need a more consistent background treatment. Ask the developer which other components inherit that style before changing it. Recheck normal, focused, disabled and error states. Retain the measured values so a future brand-color change does not silently reintroduce the same problem.
