WEBSITE PLANNING
Plan Readable Website Font Loading
Review font files, fallback readability and layout changes with a reproducible website font-loading brief.
Start with readable content
List which fonts are essential to the identity and which weights actually appear on the site. A design may specify numerous files while most pages use only regular and bold text. Record headings, body copy and interface labels separately. The aim is readable content during loading and a deliberate final appearance.
Review the transition
Record the page while it loads with an empty browser cache. Watch whether text is absent, switches typefaces or changes line breaks. A heading that gains a line can move the quote button. Compare a realistic long heading, not only the shortest homepage slogan. Keep this observation distinct from a general statement that the internet connection is slow.
Choose and verify a tradeoff
Ask the developer to explain the loading strategy, fallback font and file choices. Compare appearance before and after the custom font arrives. Removing unused weights can simplify the asset set, but confirm that emphasized text still renders as intended. Test multiple page templates and retain the recording. A font adjustment should preserve readability and layout, not only improve a lab score.
