Reduce confusion when a customer clicks twice, retries after uncertainty or contacts the business through several channels.

Find the reason for the duplicate

Separate repeated button presses from a customer intentionally submitting an updated request. Unclear confirmation messages can encourage retries, while an interrupted connection can leave the customer unsure what happened. The right fix depends on the behavior you observe rather than assuming every repeated message is spam.

Define the business response

Decide how the team recognizes related requests and which one becomes the working record. Keep corrections rather than silently discarding them. For example, a customer may submit a form and then email a changed phone number; the follow-up process should preserve the update without treating it as a new sale.

Agree on technical acceptance cases

Ask the developer how repeated submissions are handled and what evidence confirms acceptance. Include double-clicks, retry after an error and a genuinely revised request in the authorized test plan. Keep analytics counts separate from owner-confirmed unique leads. A raw event total should not be presented as the number of distinct customers without a reliable deduplication process.
